FAQ

FAQ Maternity Shoot

When is the best time to book a Maternity Shoot?

It is best to book it between 32 and 34 weeks of pregnancy. Then your bump has a good size and it is not yet too close to your due date.

What do I need to wear?

I would suggest you wear something that you like and that shows well your pregnancy shape. Any color is fine but please don’t wear cloths with patterns or big logo’s as it can be distracting on the images. If your family will participate in the shooting it would be great if your could coordinate the colors among the family members.

What do I need to prepare?

Please don’t choose a bright nail polish for the shooting as this as well can be distracting on the images. Especially when we shoot close ups of your hands.

Can I bring along items for the shoot?

Of course. You can bring anything you like to be included in the session (popular things to bring are baby’s scan, baby’s first toy, baby’s first shoes, balloons etc.). Also bring along water and snacks in case you need a break during the session.

How do I pay for the session?

A retainer of 30% of the full package fee is payable when the photography agreement is signed, in order to secure the date and time of your photo shoot. The payment is done via bank transfer to the Photographers bank account. The balance will be paid either via bank transfer at least one day before the shoot or in cash prior to the session on the day of the shoot.

When will I receive the images?

14 days after the shoot at the latest.

FAQ Newborn Shoot

When Is the best time to book a newborn session?

Newborn shoots are best to take place between the 6th and the 10th day of babies life. Then the baby will be happy to be curled up in the newborn poses. You can make a booking when you are pregnant based on your due date and if the baby arrives early or late we will adjust the date of the shoot. Please email, text or call me when your baby is born to adjust the date if needed.

My baby is over 2 weeks old. Is it still possible to have a newborn shoot?

Yes but you have to be aware that the curled up sleeping poses will probably not be possible anymore. But we can definitely get cute pictures of your baby as well if it is more than 2 weeks old. A good next milestone to take photographs is when the baby is 6-8 months old (milestone sitting) or else when the baby turns 1 year old.

What do I need to bring for my newborn session?

Please bring a pacifier (even if you don’t wish the baby to use one later on - it just helps during the session), bring one of the babies own blankets as it will know the smell of it. Bring any objects of the baby that you would like to be included in the shooting. Outfits for the baby you don’t need to bring along as I have a lot to choose from. And babies bottle if using a bottle. Bring Diapers and Wipes in case you like a specific brand (I have some in the studio for you to use as well).

What to expect from a newborn shoot?

The newborn shoot takes about 2-4 hours. We will need the time to feed and comfort the baby whenever baby needs it. I will adjust the shoot to your babies schedule and preference. In the room I will usually turn the AC off so that the baby will not get cold during the session (which means that you may feel warm during the session). We will discuss prior to the shoot the colour and style preferences and I will try my outmost to fulfill your wish. We will do 3-4 different set ups during the shoot to have a good variety of images.

Is it safe to do a Newborn shooting?

Yes it is very safe. The babies feel very comfortable when they get wrapped and curled up as this is how they were in the womb. I will never force a baby into a position that the baby is not comfortable in.

What do I need to prepare?

Please try to avoid gassy food 48hours before the shoot (avoid garlic, onions, broccoli, orange juice etc.). Keep the baby awake before the shoot as long as possible (1-2hours ideally) so that the baby will be sleepy for the session. Please don’t feed baby until you arrive in my studio. This way the baby will fall asleep easily for the session (if baby is fed at home, it will sleep in the car before the session - and might be awake for the session). Please dress the baby in cloths that can easily be removed. And also don’t put oil on your babies skin before the session (if the baby has dry skin you can use Aquaphor on babies skin the night before the shooting if you like).

Can we still do the shoot when my baby has baby acne or red skin?

Yes of course. I can fix the baby’s skin in post production.

Can I choose the props & colours for the session?

Of course! You can let me know all your preferences in advance. It will be helpful for me to know what colours you like. And please also send me pictures if you have something specific in mind prior to the shoot. This way I can prepare the set up accordingly before the session. On the day of the shoot you will also be able to choose props, outfits, hats, headbands etc.

How do I pay for the session?
